Research on Tuscarora language language revitalization beyond the scope of linguistics as a study reconsider what it means to speak/study a language problem: regardless of who you choose to work with, you're making a political choice. find a person willing to work with you and go from there. one of the best most ethical things you can do is to find a community that is willing to have you become a speaker of the language it's not your job to try and convince a community to start a language revitalization project many of these projects have the revitalization of both the language and culture as the goal contextualizing linguistic research in language revitalization regardless of your intention in writing descriptions, your product becomes perscriptive, esp. with marginalized communities. Every choice fundamentally alters the path of a language. You can't maintain observer status when you work with a community this way conflict b/t language identity and nat'l identity is a recent problem. Rise of nationalism vs. rise of linguistic identity
